History of the Nevada Cement Company
Founding and Early Operations
Nevada Cement Company has been manufacturing and distributing bulk and sack cement in Northern Nevada and Northern California since 1964. Construction began in 1962 and the production of portland cement began in 1964. Original design capacity was 540 tons per day.
Manufacturing Plant Development
In 1969, construction of a second kiln, raw mill, and two finish mills began and was completed in 1970.
Growth and Expansion
By 1976, a coal handling and firing system had been added to the plant. As Nevada experienced growth in industries and infrastructure, Nevada Cement played a significant role in providing materials for major projects. The company expanded its production capacity to meet increasing regional demands.
Commitment to Sustainability
In 1986, a Fuller single stage preheater was added to the number two kiln. Over the years, Nevada Cement has invested in initiatives to reduce environmental impact. This includes improved emissions control technology, energy efficiency measures, and partnerships aimed at sustainable practices in cement production.
Today
Today, Nevada Cement Company is recognized for its commitment to quality, reliability, and community involvement, continuing to supply cement products to the Western U.S. It remains a cornerstone of the region’s industrial landscape.
Nevada Cement’s production capacity is 500,000 tons of clinker and 560,000 tons of cement annually.
